BODY AWARENESS
FOR COUNSELLORS
Body Awareness for Counsellors
Saturday 10th February 2007 10am - 4pm
Cost £75.00(inc
VAT)-
including lunch & refreshments
“Our culture
generally sees the body as a poor relation to the mind and
this is reflected in our training as counsellors – which is
usually about sitting still and talking. Despite the fact that
we are embodied beings we may therefore ignore the wisdom of
our bodies, and feel insecure and unskilled in the area of
body awareness.
This workshop is an
opportunity to explore working from the body’s point of view,
both with regard to our own bodies and to offer some ways of
working with clients. Knowledge of the body is intrinsic to us
all and can be a rich resource for the counsellor.”
We will explore the
importance of embodiment in our work, drawing on a number of
different sources from Person Centred and Experiential
Psychotherapy and from the Hakomi Method of Body
Psychotherapy.
Experiential
exercises to increase personal body awareness will be offered,
alongside ideas for working with clients which can be
integrated into your own practice.
This workshop will
be suitable for experienced practitioners who wish to develop
their understanding and skill in body awareness work with
clients.
