In a
Masterclass, Charles O'Leary Ph.D. will present Counselling
Couples and Families: a person-centred approach. Sharing his
more twenty-five year experience working with couples and
families, Charles will present a theoretical framework for
relationship counselling, the advantages and challenges of
this type of work as well as many examples from his day-to-day
practice.
Charles will present an overview of couple and family
counselling practiced in the spirit of the person centred
approach. He will offer:
· The Rogerian Core conditions applied to work with couples
and families
· A Job Description of a person-centred couple and family
therapist
· The practice of multi-directional partiality (or being on
everybody's side at the same time)
· The common problems and opportunities of the experienced as
well as the beginning couple therapist. (Beginners' mind is
always helpful)
· Video examples of his work
· Opportunity for discussion and questions and sharing
Charles has been teaching family and couple work in graduate
schools in San Diego, California and throughout the United
Kingdom, Italy and several states in the US.
"Charlie O'Leary has a powerful reputation as a family
therapist and as a teacher of family therapy. Above all he is
an observer of families and family life whose commentary on
what he observes combines truth and humour in a fashion which
might be likened in British terms to 'John Cleese with a
doctorate in therapy.'"
