Many of the
exercises that writers use in creative writing workshops can
also reveal knowledge and emotions that are usually held out
of awareness. This workshop will focus on some of those
exercises and will appeal to anyone interested in using
writing for personal development, or in developing their
personal writing into a satisfying creative product.
These guided
exercises provide a 'frame' on which to peg emotive or unclear
content. They offer a different angle on how we normally
perceive our lives and the events and people in them.
No
experience of poetry reading or writing is required.
The workshop will focus on free-form and prose-poem formats (a
prose-poem is an image or event described in poetically). You
will need to bring an A4 notebook and pen/pencil. Handouts
will be provided.
