This workshop introduced to participants the central importance of body awareness in working with traumatised clients. Explored the premise that trauma is a psychophysical experience and thus utilising the body as a resource for healing and change is crucial. As well as discussing the theory of the psychophysiology of trauma we explored safe and effective ways of working with clients to increase body awareness as a resource towards integration and healing following the destabilising effects of trauma. We drew from the work of Babette Rothschild, Judith Hermann, and The Hakomi method of Body Psychotherapy. This workshop was suitable for experienced practitioners who wish to deepen their knowledge, understanding and skill in relation to working with traumatised clients. A Certificate of Attendance was given and this course counts towards Continuing Professional Development

Pam Winter BSc. BACP Accredited Counsellor, Dip in Counselling, Adv.Cert in Counselling Supervision. Pam has twenty years experience working with people, as individual clients, with couples and groups. Her initial training was in the Person Centred Approach and she is currently training in Hakomi Body Centred Psychotherapy and completing a Post Graduate Certificate in working with Couples (Process-oriented work based on Gestalt Theory).
